Preparing for the First Day & Subsequent Three Weeks of School

The Solution

Provide an easily digestible eLearning training that will quickly demonstrate to new teachers what they should focus on during the first week, and subsequent three weeks of school. Given my twelve year experience in K-8 public schools, I relied on my own experience and knowledge in order to create the content of this training. All visuals were designed previously during my teaching career.

The Problem

So many teachers are overwhelmed during their first year. Many simply quit, or become ill for prolonged periods of time. Teaching can be daunting.

The Process

Because being overwhelmed is such a common feeling for new teachers, I chose to create a road map that will lead users through the process. I also chose activities over lecturing so that the user is engaged throughout the training.

I organized the information in small chunks. Started with an explanation of the problem, and introduced a strategy to begin addressing this problem.

I then incorporated numerous self assessment interactive opportunities that move the user throughout the actual steps they need to take in order to prepare for the beginning of the year.
